What you will learn from the bottom of the pottery

As you probably already know from one of our articles or descriptions, our pottery come from Boleslawiec, Poland. Right in the city or its surroundings, there are a lot of larger or smaller manufacturers whose products differ not only in appearance, but above all in the quality of their useful properties.

So how do you find your way around this offer? If you turn a piece of Polish Pottery upside down, you will probably see a stamp, text and possibly numbers. What can you actually learn from it?

The stamp itself and usually the inscription below it identify the manufacturer. Examples can be seen in the following pictures.

             

After years of not only commercial but mainly user experience, we focused on the manufacturer Ceramika Artystyczna (hereafter CA). The quality of their products is unrivaled and we can offer them with a clear conscience to our customers who want not only to enjoy their beauty, but also to use them every day.

Henceforth, we will only deal with CA products that you will encounter in our store or here on the e-shop.

Below the stamp, the inscription Ceramika Artystyczna and Handmade in Poland, there are also initials and a number on each piece. The initials and number identify the designer who actually hand decorated the piece. For standard decors, it therefore applies that you will not receive any information about the pattern and form from the bottom of the product. Only our individual product codes carry this information.

The situation is a little different with the so-called unique patterns ("unikats") - see picture. The number after the inscription UNIKAT indicates the number of the pattern and the name of the author of the decor below it.

The bottom of the product usually also has an original paper sticker with the manufacturer's label, pictograms (indicating possible use in the oven, dishwasher and microwave) and with the production quality label. The highest possible quality is indicated by white stickers (first export quality). Sometimes you will also find a product with a blue sticker, which means 1st quality intended for the manufacturer's company store. The green sticker then indicates the 2nd quality. 2nd quality products have only a small "cosmetic defect", which does not limit their use in any way, and their price from the manufacturer is only slightly lower (5%). However, you will only see pieces with a green sticker here very rarely.
